Zac Efron drops out of Footloose

Zac may not be singing in Footloose, a movie directed by Kenny Ortega. A classic tale of teen rebellion and repression that features a delightful combination of dance choreography and realistic and touching performances.

According to theWrap site, Efron decided to drop out of the movie in order to take on different kinds of roles. On top of the "HSM" franchise, the actor also sang and danced his way through "Hairspray."

"Efron told the studio last week that he did not want to do another musical at this point in his career," a senior member of the production team told the site. The source added that Efron had script approval and used a loophole to get out of his contract. "People had been working on this project since last July," the source said. "We were all shocked."

*just in: Chace Crawford "Zac Efron look-alike" tried out for the lead role this weekend & did very well

Zac Efron dished to Access Hollywood about posing with a nude model for his recent Interview photo shoot. 'It was pretty crazy.. It just kind of happened. She was so professional. It wasn't really up to me so I just kind of rolled with it.

The photographer was very cool and I saw what he wanted to do. I had a great time. It was a refreshing kind of change.'
His girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens really liked the photos, she said: 'Damn. They're sexy.' Was Nessa jealous? 'They're pictures. It's hot.'

Zac on dropping out of the Footloose movie: 'It's not that I want to stay away from
musicals. It's just that at this particular moment, I'm looking for a new challenge.
